Director of Athletic Communications

McPherson College seeks a dynamic, dedicated, and experienced individual to lead its Athletic Communication department.

The Director of Athletic Communications (DAC) is responsible for leading and maintaining a comprehensive athletics communications program for McPherson College. This includes managing the MACBulldogs.com Athletics website with up-to-date information on sports, competition results, and profiles of student-athletes, coaches, and staff. The DAC works in collaboration with campus Communications staff to ensure the website and content align with institutional design and quality standards.

The DAC oversees all athletic department social media accounts, creating engaging content such as videos and interviews featuring student-athletes and coaches. They are also responsible for game day operations related to communications, including livestreaming, program development, scorer’s table management, and the timely posting of game statistics and outcomes. Additionally, they compile and report statistics to the conference and NAIA and may occasionally serve as a game manager when needed.

A key responsibility of the DAC is to manage student-athlete nominations for weekly and annual awards at the conference, regional, and national levels. The role includes supervising a part-time assistant, student interns, and game day staff, while building a diverse and inclusive Sports Information team. The DAC also serves as the main liaison with media outlets and hosts media representatives during postseason tournaments.

Collaboration is central to the role, particularly with Communications and Marketing staff, to elevate the visibility of Bulldog Athletics and support the college’s mission, branding, and outreach goals. The DAC coordinates major news releases related to the athletic department and contributes to student learning through internships, and employment. Finally, the DAC maintains permanent records of athletic achievements, oversees sports information technology, and manages the departmental budget.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience: 4+ years’ experience in intercollegiate athletics and/or media related field.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong written, oral and interpersonal communications skills are necessary.

Student Wellbeing Coordinator

McPherson College seeks dynamic and innovative candidates for the position of Student Wellbeing Coordinator.

The individual in this role acts as a primary administrator of the Student Affairs program and staff related to student mental health and wellness. The Coordinator will plan, organize, and direct programs, operations, and activities addressing the emotional well-being needs of students. Custodian

McPherson College welcomes application materials for the position of Custodian.

A custodian is a full-time, benefits eligible staff member of the Facilities Management department.  This is a non-exempt or hourly position.

As a staff member, a Custodian is expected to work toward the objectives of the Facilities Management department.  Daily tasks may include: Cleaning college dorms and buildings to include chalkboards and windows, replenishing paper supplies, emptying trash and deep cleaning projects.   A Custodian must be able to work in a team environment, display excellent customer service skills at all times and complete duties within deadlines.

A custodian will be expected to work 40 hours per week – 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.   Additional day, evening and occasional weekend hours may be required.

Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach

McPherson College is seeking outstanding applicants for the college’s Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. This position is a part-time, 12-month, exempt position and is eligible for the college’s full employee benefits plan. This position also comes with housing and reports to the Head Men’s Soccer coach.

The Assistant Men’s Soccer coach will assist the head coach in managing all aspects of the program. The assistant coach is responsible for developing, guiding and teaching the game strategies for the sports program and providing the support necessary for the student athletes to be successful in their athletic and academic endeavors.

Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting the head coach with recruitment and retention of student-athletes; scouting; scheduling; team travel; community service; academic monitoring with integrity; enforcement of team policies and procedures; off-season conditioning; leading training sessions; knowledge of and adherence to college, conference and NAIA rules and regulations. Additionally, the assistant coach will have full game-day responsibilities for the reserve team throughout the season.

Assistant Athletic Trainers

McPherson College welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer.  Multiple positions are available.  This is a 10-month, full-time, exempt position for the College. The ideal candidate will assist in the instruction, supervision, planning, and coordination of the assessment and treatment of injuries for all student-athletes of McPherson College.   The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing proper medical coverage as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer. Coverage can, but may not be limited to, home events, away events and other camps or practices.

This ideal candidate will assist the Head Athletic Trainer with insurance claims processing and proper medical documentation through maintaining quality medical records on McPherson College student-athletes. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will assist in supervision of athletic training work-study students, as well as the maintenance of inventory through regular inventory checkups. There may also be an opportunity to assist the team Orthopedic in their facility with intake, evaluation and care of patients.

The ideal candidate should have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills; the ability to multi-task; possess good organizational skills.

The candidate will perform other duties as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer or Director of Athletics.

Travel is an expectation of this position (approximately 40%) and some evening or weekend hours may be required.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field is required.
  • Certifications: National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certified; Kansas licensure or eligible as an Athletic Trainer (AT); and Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
